A week.

This last week was very intense with all the news from around the world. It reminds us that everybody must to be careful about everything if we want to protect our rights, heritage and build properly our future.

The capture of Palmyra by ISIS was a total disaster. We hope that the voice of UNESCO will be heard and this antique city will be protected against destruction.

And this week, ISIS did some terrorist attacks against Shii'a in Saudi Arabia to create tensions between different religious communities. We hope thatthis will not end into a civil war.

We are following events in Burundi as well and we hope that violences will stop soon and that people will find a peaceful way to solve political problems.

About rights, yesterday we could see the referendum in Irland about gay marriage. The Consulat is very happy about it. At the moment, we don't know the result of the referendum but the Consulat of Surland is happy to see that some countries let the people express their opinion by voting about a society question. That's the best way for all Irish people to express their attachment to democracy ! And we want to thank the Lorenzburg Nation for their communication about this event.

Yesterday, it was the international day against the violence on women and girls #Orangeday, it was organized by UN. We wanted to tweet about it cause it's important to remind people that it i's an everyday fight to protect women rights and to stop the violence against them. This cause is very important for the Consulat of Surland !

During this week, an important law has been voted in France against food wasting. Not a lot of journalists told about it but it's a little revolution. This law allows associations to take food that supermarkets can't sell but still good to be eaten and to distribute to poor people who doesn't have enough money to buy.

We hope that more social laws like this one will be voted and we hope that other countries will be inspired by this.
